The Hightech Agenda is a plan for Bavaria.

Technology is becoming more and more important.<\/p>\n

There are many different kinds of technology, including:
\nEverything related to machines, robots and computers.<\/p>\n

Bavaria wants to be an important location for modern technology.
\nThis means creating lots of jobs related to technology.
\nIt means helping people make new inventions in Bavaria.
\nIt also means making life better for people in Bavaria
\nby using technology.<\/p>\n

This is why the Bavarian state government made a plan.
\nThe plan is called: Hightech Agenda Bavaria.<\/p>\n

The word \u201chigh-tech\u201d means technology that is very advanced and modern.
\n\u201cAgenda\u201d is another word for a plan or schedule.<\/p>\n

Minister-President Dr Markus S\u00f6der
\nis committed to the plan.
\nThe Minister-President is the leader of the government
\nin a state of Germany \u2013 like Bavaria.
\nNowhere else in Germany has a plan like it.
\nThe Free State of Bavaria is spending roughly \u20ac5.5 billion on this plan.<\/p>\n

What exactly is the plan for?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It provides money to support work with special technology
\nBavaria wants to provide lots of money for research.
\nResearch means:
\nFinding out everything about a topic
\nand discovering new things.<\/p>\n

An important area of technology research is called:
\nArtificial intelligence and SuperTech.
\nThe next section provides an explanation of these terms.<\/p>\n

Abbreviation:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

People often refer to artificial intelligence using the first letter of each word: AI.
\nYou simply pronounce each letter, so it sounds like \u201cay eye\u201d.<\/p>\n

Explanation:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

AI and SuperTech are topics that focus on intelligent machines.
\nThese machines can work without the help of people.
\nThey do this using very complicated computer programs.
\nYou might know examples of these technologies:
\nRobots or drones.
\nA drone is like a tiny helicopter.
\nHowever, a drone can fly on its own.
\nAn AI robot can help with things such as nursing care.
\nThese machines can also teach themselves to do new things.
\nAI and SuperTech is often used in space technology.<\/p>\n

Bavaria hopes to do even more work on AI and SuperTech.
\nThis means that lots of men and women have to work on these topics.
\nThey need to develop and invent new technologies.
\nThis work often takes place at universities.<\/p>\n

When young people have finished studying at school,
\nthey can continue learning at universities.
\nPeople who learn at universities are called students.
\nWhen students finish studying at university,
\nsometimes they stay at the university.
\nThey stay because they can work there.
\nSome of them work as researchers.<\/p>\n

The Hightech Agenda Bavaria provides money to pay for more research
\ninto AI and SuperTech.<\/p>\n

More money and more opportunities
\nfor universities<\/p>\n

Universities do very important work.
\nThe people who work at universities
\nneed to have good working conditions.
\nThey need enough time and money for research.
\nUniversities need to have more opportunities.
\nThis is why some things at universities need to change.
\nThere is a complicated name for this change: University reform.<\/p>\n

Modern technology for people in Bavaria<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

People in Bavaria should also benefit from modern technology.
\nTechnology aims to make life better for people.
\nHere\u2019s an example:<\/p>\n

    \nThis is because computer programs can assist cars.<\/li>\n
  • Technology can also be helpful in medicine and nursing care.

  • Technology can also help us protect the environment.
